Food Sharing

Jump to: navigation, search

Food sharing is spreading across the world. Public fridges are linked through word of mouth and websites like (germany). There is a network of volunteers on hand for colelction, distribution and maintenance.

The fridges are governed by rules and a system of trust: you swap food you have too much of for something you need. It’s a bit like asking your neighbours for two carrots to finish off your casserole.

Food-sharing projects in particualr countries include:

  • Dublin’s Community Supported Agriculture.
  • The Limerick Urban Co-Op.
  • The Cloughjordan Eco-Village.
