City of Sunshine - Gate to Balkan An ambitious town in the South of Hungary, at the border with Serbia and Romania. A beautiful educational centre of the country, the second home of many of us ex- or actual students. Come on you, raise the spirit of Szeged even higher!
The famous Szeged Open Air (Theatre) Festival (first held in 1931) is one of the main attractions; which are held every summer celebrated as the Day of the city on May 21.
Bus and train tickets to everywhere in the city are 400 Forint. You buy at the driver the busticket and have to stamp it yourself. So sit next to a print machine or act like the naive and smile bringing nomad ;)
Couchsurfing worked quite well. Nobody is on Trustroots here yet, but I have asked my hosts to do so.
Vegetarian Krisna restaurant. Menu for 800 FL (2,75 euro) 6721 Szeged, Csongrádi sgt. 8/a. „Tükörterem”
Green Fusion: a bit more expensive but very good international kitchen supporting the good vibes: https://www.facebook.com/GreenFusionSzeged
Traditional food to try:
Langos Chocolate with surprising fillings like cottage cheese and marmalade : Turo Rudi
Rizi Bizi: http://www.rizi-bizi.hu/ Vegetarian and non vegetarian menu for 850 Forint
Internet is free at the Mc Donalds and you can sit quitely with a great coffee with whiped cream (Tejszunhabos Kave) for 360 Forint (at a place on the main square called: Hatos Retes where you can also eat good pastries.
Probably the best street to busk is Karasz street which is the mainstreet with an ugly Mc Donalds in it. People are not so convenient in giving money but after all we'v made 1000 Forint in half an hour and had lots of fun and happy faces.
If you are into being off the grid in a wonderful place where freedom is the key go to check if you could visit Hippitrip Duo at Noah Farm 30 km north from Szeged https://www.facebook.com/hippietrip.duo.5?fref=ts
