The Travelling school of live was a skillsharing network for moneyless travelling and learning. The website tsolife.org hosted a multi-lingual wiki where hosts and travellers could register themselves and publish skillsharing events. Before those workshops participants mutually agreed on the conditions of their endeavor on which base they want to share knowledge and at which cost guests are hosted. The basic principle was to keep costs as low as possible by means of recycling, swapping, free giving and fundraising. No one should be excluded from learning because of money.

calypso

Anytime you need a calypso

and you sing a song

vemkansegla

Vem kan segla förutan vind?
Vem kan ro utan åror?
Vem kan skiljas från vännen sin
Utan att fälla tårar?

Jag kan segla förutan vind,
Jag kan ro utan åror.
Men ej skiljas från vännen min
Utan att fälla tårar.

Selbe Melodie, anderer Text:
Ich bin ein kleiner Pinguin und komm aus der Antarktis
Mir ist kalt, mir ist kalt, wo denn nur mein Frack ist?
Darum hüpf ich hier herum, bis mir wieder warm ist.

maytheroad

May the road rise with you,
may the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
may the rain fall softly on your fields.
Until we meet again, may god hold you,
in the hollow of his/her hand.

There's a german song with the same text but a different melody:

Möge die Straße uns zusammenführen
Und der Wind in deinem Rücken sein!
Sanft falle Regen auf deine Felder
Und auf dein Gesicht der Sonnenschein.
Und bis wir uns wiedersehen
Wünsche ich dir Frieden, Freude, Glück.
Denk an die Zeit die wir gemeinsam hatten,
Manchma, und, so hoff ich, gern, zurück.

littleboxes

1. Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes made of ticky-tacky,
Little boxes, little boxes,
Little boxes, all the same.
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out of ticky-tacky
And they all look just the same.

2. And the people in the houses
All go to the university,
And they all get put in boxes,
Little boxes, all the same.
And there's doctors and there's lawyers
And business executives,
And they're all made out of ticky-tacky
And they all look just the same.

3. And they all play on the golf-course,
And drink their Martini dry,
And they all have pretty children,
And the children go to school.
And the children go to summer camp
And then to the university,
And they all get put in boxes
And they all come out the same.

4. And the boys go into business,
And marry, and raise a family,
And they all get put in boxes,
Little boxes, all the same.
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out of ticky-tacky
And they all look just the same.

Our deepest fear

Our deepest fear is not
that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that
we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness,
that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I
to be brilliant, gorgeous,
talented and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.

Your playing small doesn't serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel insecure around you.

We were born to make manifest
the glory of God that is within us.
It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people
permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.

Written by Marianne Williamson and is an excerpt from her book, "A Return to Love". (Also often quoted from the inaugural speech of Nelson Mandela.)

Die Revoluzzer

Erich Mühsam

War einmal ein Revoluzzer,
Im Zivilstand Lampenputzer;
Ging im Revoluzzerschritt
Mit den Revoluzzern mit.

Und er schrie: „Ich revolüzze!“
Und die Revoluzzermütze
Schob er auf das linke Ohr,
kam sich höchst gefährlich vor.

Doch die Revoluzzer schritten
Mitten in der Straßen Mitten,
wo er sonsten unverdrutzt
alle Gaslaternen putzt.

Sie vom Boden zu entfernen
Rupfte man die Gaslaternen
Aus dem Straßenpflaster aus,
Zwecks des Barrikadenbaus.

Aber unser Revoluzzer
Schrie: „Ich bin der Lampenputzer
Dieser guten Leuchtelichts.
Bitte, bitte tut ihm nichts!

Wenn wir ihn’ das Licht ausdrehen,
kann kein Bürger nichts mehr sehen,
lasst die Lampen stehn, ich bitt!
Denn sonst spiel ich nicht mehr mit!“

Doch die Revoluzzer lachten,
und die Gaslaternen krachten,
und der Lampenputzer schlich
fort und weinte bitterlich.

Dann ist er zuhaus geblieben
Und hat dort ein Buch geschrieben:
Nämlich, wie man revoluzzt
Und dabei doch Lampen putzt.
